Hieroglyph from Roma Anderson on Vimeo.

“I remember the winter tree,
its bare branches entwined in the hieroglyphics
of a message too hard for us to comprehend,
a language of defeat” – Lauris Edmond, The Pear Tree

Hieroglyph explores the symbols and iconography organically present in the landscape, questioning and documenting the presence and meaning of artistic forms and conventions of the ground.

Hieroglyph is a moving-image derived from approximately 200 cellphone photographs.

Musick Point, Bucklands Beach and Half Moon Bay Ferry Pier, Auckland, New Zealand (2018).
